👑 From Affiliate to Running the Show

Building a media asset that pays monthly and exits cleanly — here’s why affiliates are part of the plan. Plus the week's digital asset news.

📝 Patey’s Update

Back in 2018, I was deep in the affiliate marketing game. I promoted software tools I actually used, like SamCart — and ended up landing in their Top 10 affiliates worldwide during one of their major launches.

Sweet watch

I was alongside some serious names at the time: Nicole Walters, Eben Pagan, Pat Flynn, Mariah Coz. I still remember refreshing the leaderboard every few hours to see if I’d been bumped. (Spoiler: I wasn’t. I held my own at #7.)

That affiliate income was attached to the funnelengine.com business I sold and helped fund my next move. And now, six years later, it’s come full circle.

Because today, I’ve just set up the affiliate program for my own productized service — LetterOperators.com.

So why now?

We’re growing fast.

We send over 400,000 emails per week on behalf of our customers.

We run newsletters for business owners, media brands, creators, software companies and VCs, where one of our customers was featured in this recent blog post on beehiiv:

Up to now we’ve never done any paid acquisition, it’s all been word of mouth, content, and people forwarding our emails with a “you should check this out.”

I think it’s time to reward that.

So I’ve opened up an affiliate program with 20% recurring lifetime commissions. That’s $99/m for every customer you refer (I kept the price at $499/m so can pay affiliates, considered lowering it last week).

You send people to go.letteroperators.com — they sign up — you get paid every month they stay. Simple.

And customers are very sticky - the only churn we have is self-inflicted!

It’s powered by the same platform that paid me years ago — SamCart.

Funny how things come full circle.

I used to be an affiliate earning commissions.

Now I’m the one paying them out.

And I’m doing it the way I always wished more SaaS founders did it — with transparency, good conversion pages, and an actual recurring model that compounds over time.

What’s the product again?

LetterOperators is a “done-for-you” newsletter service.

We combine an AI workflow with a small human editorial team to write, edit, and publish weekly email newsletters for our customers.

It runs on beehiiv. It converts. And it works — reliably.

There’s no contract, no setup fee, no client drama (no custom edits). Just recurring revenue, clean ops, and a newsletter that goes out on time every week.

Want to be part of it? Just hit reply (it’s invite only).

In the future, I’ll be running monthly leaderboard updates — just like the one I obsessed over back in 2018 — and rewarding our top referrers with bonuses and perks as we scale.

It’s a fun full-circle moment.

And if you’re in the media, newsletter, or content world, there’s never been a better time to recommend a service like this.

Let’s build something long-term, recurring, and win-win.

Cheers!

Richard
